Two Oak Sons are Steve Robinson and John Hipperson, coming together after Steve left a guitar of John's in one of his favoured open tunings and had to be invited back to demonstrate how to play it...
They first met in 2007 in the acclaimed Royal Oak in Bath - still a fablulous live music venue catering to all tastes - and more than a few pints later decided that two guitars are better than one and started putting arrangements together of a handful of songs from Steve's already extensive folk repertoire with a smattering of more bluesy offerings from John's previous life in various bands.
What has coalesced since is a blend of mostly fingerstyle playing where their two guitars create a rich, full tone and their two voices complement each other with each taking a share of lead vocal lines or providing harmonies.
